New music for a film by Fernand Léger

I felt as if Fernand Léger’s silent movie contained tameless inspirative energy – its abstraction enables fantasy to flow at full capacity and to generate latent relationships among individual, momentary sequences. I tried to imply these relationships within music and create an independent composition that has formal roots in the form of the film in question. The whole film as well as the music are interlaced with several recurring motives – I sought to make their relationship apparent while being executed differently each time. This gave bith to a (technically) challening piece that enables the orchestra and the conductor to demonstrate both the crest of their abilities, musicianship and energy.
