Michal Nejtek

(*1977)

was born in Litoměřice, graduated from Teplice Conservatoire (piano) and Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (composition). He writes music for symphony and chamber ensembles and devotes himself also to stage projects (eg. Lamenti). He received commitions from Donaueschinger Musiktage, Warsaw Autumn and Klangspuren festivals. He collaborates with The Plastic People of the Universe band, as a pianist and keyboard player performs with bands like AGON, Face of the Bass and David Koller Band. He also writes incidental music (Arnošt Goldflam, Jiří Ornest, Jana Svobodová etc.). He likes jazz, alternative genres and classical music, anything original, true and intense. He was a teacher at Teplice Conservatoire and now teaches history of jazz at Jaroslav Ježek College. Occasionally works as a reviewer for Harmonie magazine. He likes to compare his composing and playing the piano with adventurous walking through a jungle, and that's why he loves it.
